Privacy Policy

StipenRx ("we," "our," or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy describes in full how we collect, use, store, and protect information when you use the StipenRx app for iOS.

1. Overview

StipenRx is a travel healthcare finance and tax tracker. Your data is stored on your device. We do not collect, transmit, or sell your personal information to third parties for advertising or marketing. We do not use analytics, advertising SDKs, or third-party tracking.

2. Information Stored on Your Device

All of the following data is stored locally on your iPhone or iPad using SwiftData. We do not have access to this data. It remains on your device unless you delete it, uninstall the app, or use a future sync feature (e.g., iCloud).

Profile + Onboarding

• Specialty — Your healthcare profession (e.g., RN, PT, OT)
• Tax home state — Your permanent residence state for IRS purposes
• Pay structure — How you are typically paid (weekly package, hourly + stipends, hourly only)
• Employment type — W-2 or 1099
• Optional weekly gross — For personalized estimates
• Onboarding status — Whether you have completed setup

Contracts (Assignments)

• Agency, location, facility — Employer and work location details
• Dates — Contract start and end dates
• Pay rates — Hourly rate, weekly stipend, hours per week
• Pay frequency — Weekly or bi-weekly
• Notes — Free-form text you enter

Shifts & Pay Periods

• Schedule — Work days, shift patterns (e.g., 3×12, 5×8), hours per day
• Pay periods — Estimated gross and net per pay period, generated from your contract data

Deductions

• Category, amount, date — Tax-deductible expenses (mileage, scrubs, licenses, CEUs, etc.)
• Notes, receipt notes — Descriptions for documentation
• Receipt photos — Optional JPEG images stored in the app sandbox only (for future receipt scanner feature)

Duplicate Expenses (Stipend Eligibility)

• Tax home rent — For IRS stipend documentation
• Assignment rent — For IRS duplicate expense requirements

Tax Home (if used)

• Address, state, evidence notes, last verified date — for IRS tax home documentation

3. How We Use Your Data

Your on-device data is used solely to:

• Display your contracts, pay estimates, deductions, and 1-year rule status
• Generate PDF exports (Annual Tax Summary, 1-Year Report, Deductions, Calendar, Assignment, Pay Calculation)
• Schedule local notifications (payday reminders, 1-year rule alerts) if you enable them
• Populate the Home Screen widget

We do not transmit this data to our servers. We do not use it for advertising, profiling, or selling to third parties.

4. App Group (Widget)

The Home Screen widget reads a summary from the main app via an iOS App Group: current assignment location, days used toward the 1-year rule, status (Safe/Caution/Warning), and YTD earnings. This data is shared only between the app and the widget on the same device. No data leaves your device.

5. Apple Services

StipenRx uses Apple services. Data handling is governed by Apple's policies:

• StoreKit 2 — In-app purchases (StipenRx Pro). Payment and subscription management are handled entirely by Apple. We do not receive your payment details or billing information. See Apple's Privacy Policy.
• MapKit (MKLocalSearchCompleter) — Location autocomplete when entering city/facility. Search queries are sent to Apple's servers; we do not receive or store these queries. Apple's privacy policy applies.

6. Notifications

If you enable notifications (Pro feature), the app schedules local reminders on your device for:

• Payday reminders (1 day before each pay period end)
• 1-year rule alerts (when approaching 300 days at a location)

These are handled by iOS. We do not send push notifications from a server. Notification content is generated on-device from your stored data.

7. Analytics, Ads & Third Parties

StipenRx does not use:

• Analytics or crash reporting SDKs
• Advertising networks
• Third-party tracking
• Social login or sharing

8. Data Security

Your data is stored in the app's sandbox on your device. iOS provides app sandboxing, file encryption (when device is locked), and Keychain for sensitive items. We do not store passwords or payment details. Receipt photos (if added) are stored only in the app sandbox.

9. Data Retention & Deletion

Your data remains on your device until you:

• Delete individual records (assignments, deductions, etc.) within the app
• Uninstall the app — which removes all locally stored data

There is no cloud backup unless you use a future iCloud sync feature. We do not retain copies of your data on our servers.

10. Your Rights

Because your data stays on your device:

• Access — You can view all your data in the app
• Correction — Edit any record in the app
• Deletion — Delete records or uninstall the app to remove all data
• Portability — Use PDF export to obtain copies of your data

If you are in California, the EU, UK, or other jurisdictions with specific privacy laws, the above applies: we do not sell or share your data. We do not collect data from you directly on our servers.

11. Children

StipenRx is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided data through the app, please contact us.

12. Future Features

We may add features such as Sign in with Apple or iCloud sync. If we do, we will update this policy to describe how that data is handled. Sign in with Apple uses Apple's identity service; iCloud sync would use your Apple ID and Apple's infrastructure.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the latest version. We encourage you to review it periodically. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy. Material changes may be communicated in the app or via email if we have your contact information.
